In the present day, one man had started to experience dreams and visions of the past. He attempted to take medicine to stop it, thinking that this was a medical problem, but the medicine was ineffective; something larger was at play here. The man decided to find a shaman to find out what the problem was, what these dreams and visions meant, and to cure him of them. However, the shaman told the man of the ancient stories of a battle 30,000 years ago between a great hero and the two Sisters of Chaos - one who controls Light from the Sun, and one who controls Darkness from the Moon. The Sisters were imprisoned after the battle, but the hero had perished in the process. The shaman informed the man that he was the hero's reincarnation, and that the Sisters of Chaos have apparently escaped their imprisonment. This man was now the only one who could stop them, and so he went forth on the journey.

## The Sisters Strategy ##
I went into the last battle with only 7 hearts and 4 energy bolts, and manage to take down the sisters. It was really not much of a problem, you just need to practice to handle the 6 different phases flawlessly.
![Boss The Sisters]
First phase you'll be fighting orbs while the sisters will send out bolts of alternating colors. I've found it easiest to take down these orbs going in a clockwise circle. Just make sure you don't loose any hearts on this easy step.
Second phase is where you can damage the sisters. Each sister can take 9 hits before she becomes invulnerable. Start with the red one, and end with blue - because you would like to end up on the right side of the screen for phase 3.
Third phase is a bit tougher. Get to the outer circle as quick as you can and travel up with it. You will have an easier time to fight off the outer orbs on top. When you killed off all outer orbs, move in and do the inner orbs. I usually do this on the right side, but I don't think it matters.
Fourth phase is the second time you may hurt the sisters. Begin with the blue sister and kill the red one last. This is to be positioned favorably for the fifth phase.
Fifth phase is hard. Get to the outer circle immediately and use it to travel up. You will have easiest time killing of the outer orbs while on top, just like the third phase. The hardest part is to kill off the inner orbs. You might have to spend one of your powers here.
Sixth phase is the last one. You'll get to kill the sisters. I had saved all my powers to this phase and killed them off with my light ray - staying on a comfortable range. Melee on this phase does not look impossible, you just need to be careful and switch color as needed.

Outland is an ordinary platformer, except it has an extraordinary feature. You can assume two colors, dark och light. When you assume light, you will not be hurt by light energy bolts, and when you assume dark you will not be hurt by dark energy bolts. But at the same time, you cannot hurt a light monster, while being light yourself. And that makes this game a whole lot interesting than your ordinary platformer.
So while trying to jump on platforms, avoid monsters or try to kill them, you also need to keep track of what color you are. It does not seem very special, but as a game mechanic it works surprisingly well. While the enemy you want to kill requires you to be dark, the environment around it may be hazardous unless you're light.
First half of the game is fun. I love swinging that sword and collecting gold coins. The mobs are entertaining and the platforming is great. Sadly this does not keep me entertained for the whole game. After a while, fighting minions become a way to get to the next boss.
The bosses in this game are fantastic. They are huge, and you feel really tiny and insignificant in comparison. You need to study their way to attack you so you can counter and conquer. Every boss fight consist of different parts that you need to go through and you will die a lot while learning the pattern to handle each part. It is worth it. When you take down a boss you feel like a king, and you've really honed your mastering of the controls to enable the next area.
I give this game the rating 4, because it has great graphics, good sound and great game play. The story is weak and the game between the bosses can sometimes be tedious, but it is all worth it to play this game to the end.
