One of the most anticipated releases this month was Trials Evolution. I would like to take the opportunity to reflect on where this kind of arcade racing comes from.
Kikstart was an awesome racing game, because it was not just about maxing the gas pedal and keeping up in the corners. This was about precision. If you timed it right you would run at maximum speed for each obstacle, and sometimes you could time a jump so that an obstacle could be completely avoided and you'd get better time.
One unique thing with Kikstart 2, that almost no other had at that time, was a level editor. There you could create your own levels, to make the most impossible jumps. It was focused on "play" and it was fun.
